Install Mach and make your first dictation
Download Mach, grant the two required macOS permissions, and dictate into your first app.

Install Mach
- 1Download the Mach DMG and open it.
- 2Drag Mach into your Applications folder.
- 3Open Mach and complete browser sign-in.
- 4When macOS asks, allow Microphone and Accessibility access.
Make your first dictation
- 1Open an app with a text field and place the cursor where you want the text.
- 2Hold Fn and wait for the listening indicator.
- 3Speak naturally, then release Fn.
- 4Mach transcribes your speech and pastes the result into the focused app.
The default hands-free shortcut is Fn + Space. You can change both shortcuts in Dictation Settings.
Why Mach asks for permissions
- Microphone access lets Mach capture audio only while you are dictating.
- Accessibility access lets Mach paste finished text into the app you are using.
- You can review or revoke either permission in macOS System Settings.
If nothing happens
Confirm that Mach is running in the menu bar and that both permissions are enabled. If the listening indicator still does not appear, quit and reopen Mach.
